China successfully developed a seawater desalination high-power high-pressure pump

According to the Department of Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province, the high-pressure pump of reverse osmosis desalination system independently developed by professor Wang Leqin of Zhejiang University and other scientific research personnel passed the inspection and acceptance in mid-December, and its daily processing capacity reached 5,000 tons. According to reports, this is China's first high-power high-pressure pump independently developed for reverse osmosis desalination projects.

At present, desalination technologies that are put into commercial use in the world include distillation and reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis desalination technology has developed rapidly in recent years due to many advantages such as low equipment investment, low energy consumption and short construction period. High-pressure pump is one of the three core components of reverse osmosis desalination equipment.

China's seawater desalination project started relatively late, and scientists have been committed to achieving localization of related equipment, especially key equipment. Researchers from Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Cole Pumps Co., Ltd. jointly launched a study on the “development and application demonstration of high-flow desalination high-pressure pumps” in 2008. This project was listed as a major project of the Zhejiang Science and Technology Plan.

The project leader, Professor Wang Leqin of Zhejiang University, said that the project uses a combination of water-lubricated bearings and rolling bearing design to replace the traditional multi-stage pump double rolling bearing structure, and also developed a new seawater desalination pump technology for duplex stainless steel materials and Technology has enabled localization of high-pressure pumps from materials to technology.

The acceptance person in charge of the Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province stated that the prototype developed by the project has been operating smoothly for six months in Zhoushan Liuheng Waterworks Co., Ltd., which reflects good results. It was inspected by Zhejiang Electromechanical Products Quality Inspection Institute, and all measured technical indicators met the requirements.
