First, distinguish cold-rolled and hot silicon steel sheets from appearance
(1) The cold plate is processed by cold rolling, without oxide scale on the surface, and the quality is good; the hot plate is processed by hot rolling, with oxide scale on the surface, and the thickness of the plate is lower.
(2) The toughness and surface flatness of the hot-rolled sheet are poor, and the price is low, while the cold-rolled sheet has good stretchability and toughness, but the price is more expensive.
(3) The surface of the non-plated hot rolled plate is dark brown, and the surface of the non-plated cold rolled plate is gray; after plating, it can be distinguished from the smoothness of the surface. The smoothness of the cold rolled plate is better than that of the hot rolled plate. But in-depth exploration is not simple.
2. Production and characteristics comparison of hot and cold rolled silicon steel sheets
(1) Hot rolled silicon steel sheet
Continuous casting slab or primary rolling slab is used as the raw material, heated by a stepping furnace, after descaling with high-pressure water, it enters the roughing mill, the rough rolled material is cut through the head and tail, and then enters the finishing mill, and computer-controlled rolling is carried out. After the final rolling, it will go through laminar cooling (computer-controlled cooling rate) and the coiler to become a straight hair coil. The head and tail of straight hair curls are often tongue-shaped and fish-tailed, with poor thickness and width accuracy, and often have defects such as wave shape, hemming, and tower shape at the edges. After the straight hair roll is processed by finishing lines such as head cutting, tail cutting, edge trimming and multi-level straightening and smoothing, and then cut or re-rolled, it becomes: hot rolled steel plate, flat hot rolled steel coil, longitudinal Cut tape and other products.
(2) Cold rolled silicon steel sheet
The hot rolled steel coil is used as the raw material, and the scale is removed by pickling and then cold continuous rolling. The finished product is a hard rolled coil. The cold work hardening caused by continuous cold deformation increases the strength and hardness of the rolled hard coil, and the toughness and plasticity index decreases. As the stamping performance deteriorates, it can only be used for simple deformed parts. Hard rolled coils can be used as raw materials for hot-dip galvanizing plants because hot-dip galvanizing units are equipped with annealing lines. In general, cold continuous rolled plates and coils should be subjected to continuous annealing or hood furnace for annealing treatment to eliminate cold work hardening and rolling stress, and reach the mechanical performance indicators specified in the standard.
(3) Other comparisons between hot rolling and cold rolling
Cold-rolled steel allows local buckling of the section, so that the load-bearing capacity of the member can be fully utilized; hot-rolled steel does not allow local buckling of the section.
Hot-rolled steel and cold-rolled steel have different causes of residual stress, so the distribution on the cross-section is also very different.
The free torsional rigidity of hot-rolled steel is higher than that of cold-rolled steel, so the torsion resistance of hot-rolled steel is better than that of cold-rolled steel.
